MasterCaster masterpieces Roden's 1:32 SE gets a resin makeover...
FROM MasterCasters' large range of resin 'add-on' accessories, mostly 1:32 /1 :48 for WWII and post-war aircraft subjects, now come two upgrades for
Roden's first big SE5a (WS 23/2). MST32013 (Ł7.95) provides a cleanly-pressed, sink-mark-free airscrew with excellent thrust plate detail fore and aft, along
with a one-piece radiator casing. This is a great improvement on the kit item with sharper shutters, side mounting brackets and lower connecting rod, not to
mention a convincing honeycomb mesh above both shutter panels. Other surface detail has been applied and with careful painting, this will add greatly to the
kit's appearance. More elaborate in MST32015 (Ł7.95) which offers an all-new upper forward fuselage panel that restores all the surface detail the original kit
partly lacked. The padded cockpit coaming (with stitching detail); improved undershield mounting; fuel tank rivetling, metal studded strip, hollowed out
airscoop, etc., - not to mention internal battens and magneto switches - make this a must-have. Also included are a pair of wheels with
improved spoke detail and 'Palmer Cord Aero Tyre' legends in relief around the outer tyre surfaces. These can be carefully picked out in white paint - they only
lack the tyre size, but as these differed it's not a serious complaint. Jay Laverty of MasterCasters advises us further WWI sets are in pre-paration expect
